When it comes to the finding the best partner for your fertility needs, an on-site laboratory is a crucial part of creating the family of your dreams. In the case of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), the lab plays a key role, up t0 40%, in the overall success of achieving pregnancy.

Full-Time Lab Director
Beyond the facility, a critical aspect of a successful IVF program is a well-run lab with an on-site, full-time lab director. Our on-site, full-time Laboratory Director, Dr. Kevin K. Oum, is one of the most skilled and experienced IVF lab specialists in the world.
Dr. Oum is a certified High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) who on a daily basis ensures the highest quality work by leading an experienced team of lab technicians. Our lab utilizes state-of-the art equipment, and remains up to date on techniques as well as Reproductive Medicine literature in order to provide the best patient care possible. Dr. Oum and his team perform end-to-end IVF lab work including highly complex procedures such as PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening), ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), Fertility Preservation, and Blastocyst Transfer.
Embryo handling, incubation, and storage also directly correlates to overall pregnancy success rates. A lab that stays up to date on the latest advances and practices in embryology will offer the best possible chance at success.
At our laboratory, we do just that — handle each individual embryo with the care of a doting parent. We work tirelessly to ensure that our culture media, incubators, and handling apparatus are all working at their very best while being overseen and maintained by our well-qualified laboratory staff.
Some of the most harmful factors to developing embryos are volatile organic compounds, microbes and perfumes. However, with our specially designed Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units and high-efficiency particulate air filters, we can cycle the air from a room 20 times every hour — thus reducing the risk of contamination. Additionally, having the lab on site eliminates the risk of contamination that comes with transporting embryos from facility to facility. Our lab is closely monitored and is only accessible to certified lab staff, therefore removing any security or contamination risk.
Experienced Lab Staff
Most activities that occur inside the laboratory are complex and can only be performed by highly trained professionals specializinng in embryology and andrology. RSMC’s state-of-the-art facility is fortunate to have an experienced laboratory team dedicated to caring for our patient’s eggs, embryos and sperm.
Our lab is fully-accredited and inspected annually by the College of American Pathologists, as well as the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
