When it comes to finding the best partner for your fertility needs, an on-site laboratory is a critical part of creating the family of your dreams. In the case of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), the lab plays a key role, up to 40%, in the overall success of achieving pregnancy.
Our onsite andrology, embryology, and endocrinology laboratory in San Diego allows us to provide consistent care in a controlled environment. This increases overall success and brings down costs for our patients.
Full-Time Lab Director
A critical aspect of a successful IVF program is a well run lab with an on-site full-time lab director. Dr. Oum is a certified High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) who leads a team of experienced lab technicians, ensuring the highest quality work.
Our lab utilizes state-of-the art equipment and remains up to date on all the latest techniques. This ensures the best patient care possible. Dr. Oum and his team perform end-to-end IVF lab work including highly complex procedures such as PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening), ICIS (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), Fertility Preservation and Blastocyst Transfer.
Embryo handling, incubation, and storage also directly correlates to overall pregnancy success rates. A lab that stays up to date on the latest advances and practices in embryology will offer the best chance at success.
Our laboratory does just that. We handle each embryo with the utmost care. Our laboratory staff works tirelessly to maintain and ensure our culture media, incubators, and handling apparatus are all working efficiently.
There are a variety of outside elements that can harm developing embryos. However, with our specially designed HVAC units and high-efficiency particulate air filters, we can cycle the air from a room 20 times every hour. This reduces the risk of contamination. Since our lab is onsite, there is no need to transport embryos from facility to facility, further reducing the risk of contamination. Our lab is closely monitored and is only accessible to certified lab staff, removing any security risk.
Experienced Lab Staff
Most activities that occur inside the laboratory are complex and can only be performed by highly trained professionals specializinng in embryology and andrology. RSMC’s state-of-the-art facility is fortunate to have an experienced laboratory team dedicated to caring for our patient’s eggs, embryos and sperm.
Our lab is fully-accredited and inspected annually by the College of American Pathologists, as well as the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
