Dr. Minh N. Ho, M.D., F.A.C.O.G
Medical Director, Reproductive Endocrinologist
Dr. Minh N. Ho is board certified in both OB/GYN and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He graduated from medical school more than 30 years ago and has since been demonstrating his skills through practice. Dr. Minh N. Ho is very proficient in treating patients of all backgrounds but specializes in treating patients of Asian descent. His well-known practice and accredited expertise culminated the opportunity for him to provide treatment to elite clientele, including authoritative government officials and high-end celebrities in Vietnam. The majority of his patients travel from China and Vietnam to the United States to receive his infertility treatment, surrogacy and egg donation guidance at the leading full-service IVF medical center, RSMC.
Dr. Ho came to the US from Vietnam as a refugee in 1979. Within three years, he was accepted into the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine and graduated with an M.D. in 1986. He then completed a residency in OB/GYN at the world-renowned UT Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland memorial Hospital, where he invented a patented double-clamp umbilical cord cutter.
After completing his residency in 1990, Dr. Ho moved to San Diego and joined the group practice in OB/GYN Kaiser Permanente. To continue his educational endeavors, he later began a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the UC of San Diego, where he worked under the supervision of the Nobel Laureate Candidate, Dr. Samuel Yen. In 1994, with a special grant from the NIH, he served a year as Guest Research Scientist at the internationally recognized National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland and continued to study and prove that granulosa cells express receptors for GnRH.
His impressive educational and training background continues to strengthen his expertise in the reproductive sciences field. Throughout his years of practicing medicine, he has helped thousands of couples achieve their dreams of having healthy babies with the gender of choice.
Dr. Ho is well known for serving Asian patients. Although he serves both domestic and international clientele, his cultural understanding of the Asian population provides our international patients the benefit of expert communication.
He also specializes in helping patients who are experiencing advanced maternal age and/or endometriosis as well as patients with immunological disorders. Dr. Ho is skilled in finding solutions for advanced maternal age and low ovarian reserve. He enjoys overcoming varied obstacles to fulfill his patient’s dreams.
“I’ve been nicknamed the “nicest gentlemen in the west” because I treat my patients like family. I take a very personal approach to each couple or individual I meet. No patient is alike and neither is their treatment. With customization for every patient, attention to detail is crucial.
I want every patient to have the best quality of care and I do everything I can to create a successful outcome.
I am not just a physician. I’m also an artist (a musician, poet and writer). This side of me allows me to treat my patients more with my heart. I like to think it’s a combination of heart, mind and skill.”
Dr. Ho is very interested in new technologies on the horizon. Specifically, creating embryos from skin cells instead of harvesting as a solution for advanced maternal age. Although still controversial and far in the future, he is also interested in the future of IVF as it relates to gene editing.
Dr. William Alexander Freije, M.D., Ph.D
Dr. William A. Freije is double board certified in OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, with over 26 years of professional experience.
His clinical interests include genetic disorders, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, new genetic technologies, infertility, in vitro fertilization, hormonal disorders, and congenital anomalies of the genital tract. His research interests include metabolism, mitochondrial function, intra-uterine growth restriction, and circadian cycling.
He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Freije has also been published in numerous medical journals including The American Journal of Human Genetics, the Journal of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, Clinical Endocrinology and the Journal of Cell Biology.
He attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. His residency in OB/GYN was completed at UCLA, followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Johns Hopkins University. He also continued his fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Freije received his PhD in Human Genetics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has had extensive experience in both academic medicine as well as private practice.
Dr. Freije is a human genetic expert who is impassioned about epigenetics, where everything from uterine conditions to growth conditions of growing the embryos in the laboratory can affect the outcome of the growth of the fetus and eventually the newborn child. His strong passion has led him to his specialization in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which has two different aspects: a genetic predisposition and environmental impacts.
“My approach to patient care is to understand my patient’s background and what their objectives are. Once I know this, I can investigate thoroughly what resources they have to achieve their goal and then build a plan that is customized and appropriate for them.
In our practice, we can never just focus on the Intended Parent. Our service must be focused on the whole unit in order for success to occur. I make it my priority to to treat all involved parties, whether it be, Intended Parent, Egg Donor and/or Surrogate, with the utmost respect and compassion.”
Dr. Freije is highly interested in epigenetics and currently dives into related aspects of genetics such as preimplantation, genetic diagnosis, energetic measurements and mitochondria function evaluation.
He understands that as time goes on we are going to understand a lot more of epigenetics and we will be able to create healthier babies through its understanding.
Kevin K. Oum, Ph.D., HCLD/CC, EMB
Dr. Kevin Kiboong Oum, joined Reproductive Sciences Medical Center as the Laboratory Director after being the Scientific Director at Columbia University Fertility Center in New York.
His achievements in ICSI in 1993, (while ICSI was still a new skill to the embryology field) earned him an honor and recognition by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, for his success with Vitrification of Human Blastocyst Embryos. Recognizing his determination, Columbia University invited him to collaborate on other similar projects.
Dr. Oum received his Ph.D. in Animal Reproduction at the graduate school of Konkuk University in Seoul. He later became a professor at Choongmoon Medical School and several other colleges and graduate schools in Korea, teaching human embryology, cell biology and genetic engineering.

Dr. Oum is a member of American Society of Reproductive Medicine, American Association of Bioanalysts and Society of Reproductive Biologists Technologists.
Dr. Oum specializes in Intra-plasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Embryo Biopsy, Surgical Sperm Retrieval, and Cryopreservation. He spent several years on stem cell research in the past but has spent most of his time on fertility treatment, genetic testing and related researches.
He has also worked in the some of the largest fertility centers in Korea and the United States, making him one of the knowledgeable and experienced directors as it relates to large scale fertility centers.
“My commitment is to provide the most complete care for our patients so they have the best possible chance at creating the family size they desire. We are constantly seeking ways to improve to ensure we have the world’s greatest system to give our patients the best quality of care in the industry.
I strive to put patients at ease while they are here, educating them on each procedure and answering any questions they may have. My goal is to educate our patients so they can make the best decision for their own care with guidance from our medical team.
On behalf of our team and laboratory, we are 100% committed to our patients and are available 24/7 to care for them according to each individual’s needs, which sometimes means showing up to the lab very early in the morning (~6am) or the middle of the night (~1am). As highly educated professionals, we strive to be technically flawless, and prioritize accuracy, as well as compassion for each patient.”
Dr. Oum is interested in genetics and new protocols in the future of IVF, such as non-invasive genetic diagnosis, which means still doing PGS (Preimplantation genetic diagnosis) on embryos, but would not need an embryo biopsy.
There has also been immense improvement in oocyte and sperm cryopreservation and he looks forward to seeing continued improvement in these systems.
