This just seemed to be the perfect day to share this article from Celebrity Baby Scoop
Not everyone can conceive a baby, which makes the option of surrogacy so rewarding.
We’re taking a look at 13 celebrities who have used a surrogate mother to expand their families. From Ellen Pompeo, to Jimmy Fallon, to Giuliana Rancic, to Sarah Jessica Parker, let’s hear how gestational carriers have helped change the lives of some high-profile families.
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is the latest celebrity to welcome a child via gestational carrier.
In a surprising announcement last week, the actress, 44, revealed the arrival of her second child – daughter Sienna May – via surrogate with husband Chris Ivery.
“Sienna May Ivery welcome to the world,” Pompeo wrote on Instagram Thursday, October 2. “We love you more than words can say.”
The new mom-of-two and Ivery, 46, kept their impending baby joy completely under wraps.
The actress took to Twitter to announce that Sienna was born by a surrogate mother.
“Sienna was born via surrogate & I would like to thank my whole @ShondalandTV family for helping us enjoy these first few weeks privately,” she tweeted.
Later revealing that Sienna was “born two months ago,” Ellen went on to talk about the miracle of using a gestational carrier.
“This is an incredible thing to do with your life, to give the gift of carrying someone’s child, so I am forever grateful and feel very blessed and grateful to her—she who will remain anonymous,” Pompeo said. “I was there with her when they inseminated her and we held hands.
I looked into the microscope and I saw the embryo, I saw the baby, and they put it in a thingy and they inseminated her. And then we held hands and we prayed, we talked to God, and if she was meant to be. He said he was going to try to help us out and now we have a gorgeous baby girl.”
