Many people decide to donate their eggs, but one of the most common questions they get is, why would you donate something that belongs to you, and only you? Being a one-time Egg Donor myself, I understand where this confusion is coming from. It’s difficult for people to understand why a woman would donate her eggs, but talking from experience, there are plenty of Reasons to Donating Your Eggs.

Before I became a Egg Donor, I too had my doubts before knowing everything about the process. However, as soon as I visited the Egg Donor Agency and talked with people who’ve done the same thing, I decided to focus on the positive sides, and I quickly made up my mind. Women decide to give out their eggs for many reasons, I can’t speak for all of them, but I can tell you why I decided to take that step. In my case, I was moved by a strong desire to help a hopeful couple build a family after hearing heart-rending stories from my friends about their inability to get pregnant on their own. I decided I wanted to help them end their struggle and give them what they’ve always hoped for.

Let me tell you 5 reasons to donate your eggs and why I have found that donating your eggs is so satisfying and rewarding.

1. Getting to Free from Struggle

Free the countless couples who are struggling with infertility and let them have the joy of becoming a parent. Their dream of being able to have a child together seems so far-fetched. The process of conceiving grows more tedious, depressing, and time-consuming day by the day. Those who witness this struggle first hand, understand how this problem affects someone’s life.

2. Everyone Can Have Their Family

It is a good chance to help a loving couple get a family. Sure…you have heard that repeatedly. But why I choose to donate my eggs? One of the reasons was that I have a wonderful family of my own. The opportunity to help someone else have a family of their own – with memorable pictures, inside jokes, holiday traditions – all seemed too special for me to ignore. Little things like this truly mean the world to me, so I’m more than certain it will mean the world to them too.

3. The Impacts Last for a Long Time

Not long ago, I had the chance to watch some Egg Donor-recipient stories of RSMC San Diego. I saw different experiences and life stories that, even though they were just short videos, were incredibly emotional. In the end, they touched my heart. This is what moved me, I decided to make a difference in my life as well as a difference in another family’s, that can last a lifetime. Sarah, a woman who tried to get pregnant for many years but failed many times, talked about going for donor egg treatment. I found her persistence, faith, and journey so moving and inspiring. It humbles me to know that hopeful couples put their trust in me. I started to realize and consider this as one of the most amazing decisions I would make in my life.

4. You Become an Important Piece of a Wonderful Puzzle

I see fertility as a puzzle of many pieces. Each one contributing to the whole picture. As a donor, you feel as if you are wanted and a very important piece of the family-building puzzle. Without you, the key piece of the puzzle, the picture can’t be complete. To me, that feeling of importance is one of the best feelings a person can have. Nothing can be as fulfilling and rewarding as giving someone the chance to become a family. Those who want to bring love into their home will do everything in their power to make it so, while you, as a donor, will be able to turn their dreams into a reality. In the end, all the efforts are worthwhile.

5. Get to Know More About Who You Are

When I donated my eggs, the whole process truly opened my eyes. It helps me find me who I was, who I want to be, and who I could become. I like to think that having the ability to show love with no assurance of return made me mindful. As an Egg Donor, I got the opportunity to see that there are so many ways to live the one life we are given. I decided to keep helping other people more than I ever used to. It is a life-changing experience that enables you to become a part of a remarkable thing that’s much bigger than yourself.

6. You Get the Chance to Stand Out and Become an Advocate!

As a donor, you are able to advocate for a hopeful couple who might be thinking they’re alone. Right from the time I started donating eggs, I have been telling friends and family about the beauty of giving out your eggs. Many people don’t realize that by becoming a donor, you become an actual advocate for those who can’t conceive. The more you learn about it, the more you will understand this procedure. Eventually, you will be so invested in it that you will want to help couples all the time. I got to know more about fertility treatment since I, too, wanted to help the couple who needed me. What I realized instead, was the real struggles these couples were going through every single day.

Eventually, I understood these challenges, and by choosing to donate my eggs, I know that I can help them realize that they’re not alone in their fertility journey. I’ve shown them that there is someone who cares for them, someone who wants to lend a hand and understands. Trying to help in need truly ends up becoming a reward in itself.
In conclusion, there are a lot of reasons I chose to donate my eggs. Overall I am completely happy with my choice and didn’t realize I could feel so empowered by truly helping create a family.

Conclusion

Everything you will experience in your life will bring about different feelings. Some stronger than others and some sit with you and change you. Egg donation is one of those instances.
